The Girl Who Chased the Moon is an endearing novel featuring magical realism. The book felt a bit too "chick"-lit for my liking but overall I found the novel enjoyable. The characters were well drawn and I grew to really like Emily, Julia and Sawyer. The twists at the end were not terribly unpredictable and not very interesting in my opinion. Honestly I felt as though the magic could have played a stronger role, the amount of it felt a bit too weak to be taken seriously as a component to the story. We knew that the book would have an HEA which made the events a bit less entertaining as less was weighing on the actions. Allen, however, did write a whimsical novel that definitely makes you feel like you are in the South. I enjoyed the book and will read further works by Allen.
