Annabel is an intriguing look into Lena's mother, Annabel. Both past and present actions are shown in this short story and I found myself wanting more. Annabel proved to be a very interesting character and I would love to have had even greater look into the past and present for Annabel. The plight of a young and old Annabel was well portrayed and I was pleased with Oliver's writing. Why don't I recall liking book one when her short stories are so entertaining?
