The Restaurant at the End of the Universe was not nearly as entertaining as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. In fact the jokes in this one felt forced, or at the very list over the top versus the nuance of those in the first book. I failed to feel connected to the meandering story or the characters. Perhaps the fact that other characters were followed rather than the original two in Hitchhiker's was an issue, I find it difficult to say as the entire book was overrun with over-doing-it-syndrome. The book also suffered in my opinion by not being read by Stephen Fry, I really felt he upped the enjoyment of Hitchhiker's for me. Overall, Hitchhiker's Guide #2 failed to impress and left me itching to read something less tiresome.
