The Songbird's Overture

The Songbird's Overture - Danielle L. Jensen I really enjoyed the Malediction Trilogy world, but I do not feel as though this short story in it added anything to the overall story. Most of the information contained within this was found or inferred from the first novel in the series. Yes, we see the day her mother offers to take her when she is seventeen and we see that the mother is, in fact, unlikable. But we already knew she was unlikable and I actually think there were greater facets to the mother's personality/situation hinted at in Stolen Songbird. The Songbird's Overture is decently written but I did not walk away with anything new.
